The Egoscue Method opened two clinics in Japan a couple of years ago and ever since then they've been taking Japan by storm. Now that Egoscue has been established in Japan and there's a lot of a pain free people walking around, now what?

Dant-da-da-dah...PatchFitness is what! That's right, we're going global. Brining fun and love of movement back to the whole world. Just watch the video above. Sure you can't understand most of it (unless you speak Japanese), but you don't have to speak the language to tell that everyone is having fun and feeling good. Remember, communication is 90% non-verbal. So this video speaks volumes. Enjoy!

Well it just so happens that I work with an awesome company I'm sure many, if not all of you have heard about. The Egoscue Method. And Egoscue has another little company under it's wings, called PatchFitness.

Well of all the crazy random happenstances, our message and goals seem to coincide. So effective immediately Activotee.com will now be sdpatchfitness.com.

I heard this question a lot when I was a personal trainer.
I heard it a lot when I managed a supplement store.
And I still hear it today at all of our Egoscue clinics around the world.

My response has always been to answer this question with another question.

Why would you want to?

I've been doing Egoscue exercises for nearly five years now and I'm still getting better. Sure my pain was gone within two months of starting the program, but till this day I continue feeling positive changes.

You have to remember that the human body is a stimulus reacting organism. In other words, our bodies react to our environments, how we move or don't move, and what we put into our bodies, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Our bodies are always changing. That's how we maintain.

So how can you change the stimulus around you in order to maintain health and wellness?

The Fun Theory

The Fun Theory is an initiative of Volkswagen. The site is dedicated to the thought that something as simple as fun is the easiest way to change people’s behaviour for the better. Be it for yourself, for the environment, or for something entirely different, the only thing that matters is that it’s change for the better.

Go to www.thefuntheory.com to check out more fun videos and submit your own.

Activotee will be submitting a video on how to make exercise more fun. If you have any ideas for the video, please let me know. I'm open to any suggestions you might have. And if you have any ideas for entirely separate topics all together, I highly recommend you send them in.

So go think, go play, and have fun!

How to Thrive Outside the Gym

Well as amazingly descriptive as that post was, we all know the saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words". And if that's true then I guess this video will speak volumes:

Now this is just a small example of what can be done with the PATCH O'Course. And as you can see it isn't just for kids either. Mascots, pirates, and even adults (gasp) can play on it too, all the while getting a workout. And if you don't think that sword fighting for 30 minutes non-stop is a workout then you obviously haven't tried it.

But what if you don't have a PATCH O'Course of your own to play on? Just use whatever's around and your imagination. Go to any park or rec center and you're sure to find objects (sidewalks, railing, stairs) that can double for an obstacle course. Or better yet, go to www.egoscue.com, find the nearest clinic and use their O'Course. Have fun!

Herniated Discs Are Like PB & J Sandwiches

Say what?!

Just follow me here for a second...what happens when you squeeze one side of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? The jelly comes out the opposite end, right? And the jelly won't go back in unless you stop squeezing the bread.

Well, herniated discs work the same way. If there is pressure on one side (front, back, left, or right) of the spine, the disc will squeeze (herniate) out the other side. Now sure you can have surgery (discectomy or laminectomy), but that only addresses the symptom or shall we say, the jelly. And we all know that PB & J sandwiches without the jelly just aren't the same. Well, vertebrae without all the of the disc aren't much fun at all either. In fact, removing part of the disc can lead to other, more serious back problems in the future.

So the question we must ask ourselves is: WHO THE HELL IS SQUEEZING MY BREAD?

3 Reflex Boosting Games

3 Reflex Boosting Games from Justin Archer on Vimeo.

We all played games growing up. Tag, hop scotch, kick the can...whatever it was, we played for hours and hours on end until our parents called us in for dinner. Fast forward to today and the mere hint of an adult playing these same games promotes the question :WHY?

Well, for the same reason we played them when we were younger. For fun. Now yes, some games can be used to educate or practice a certain skill, but all are, or should be fun. And that's what these three games are all about.

But if you must know (sigh), these games will help you gain better balance and quicker reflexes. They're easy to learn and only require a friend or family member to practice with. Play around with these and share any other games you like to play.

Watch More TV

I know it seems odd to be promoting more time in front of the television on a website that's all about living an active lifestyle, but I think it all depends on what you're doing while watching TV and what it is that you're watching. For example, if you're sitting back in a lazy boy recliner, eating bon bons, and watching day time TV, you need to get a life. If however you're laying down in Supine Groin Progressive in TOWER (pictured above; an entire post will be donated to this little gem) watching The Peaceful Warrior, you've got a better quality of life to live.

You Can't Coach Desire

Why do you work where you work? Why do you train the way that you do? Why do you do anything at all?

Ask yourself these questions before, during, and after you watch this video. Think about why Dustin Carter trains the way he trains and why he does what he does. He's a winner, plain and simple. His desire to win and be the best triumphs any obstacles in his way.

Now think about what your desire is? To be healthy, to be rich, to help people...what ever it may be, have you accomplished it. If so, great, more power to you. If not, ask yourself why not.

I believe that it's a universal rule that people get what they want, one way or another, if they want it bad enough. I'll prove it: What is the last thing you really wanted in life? More friends, more time, more money...and do you have it now? Chances are you either answered yes or are currently working on a way to get whatever it is that you want.

If you haven't gotten what you want yet, ask yourself why it is that you want what you want. What will getting it accomplish for you? Will it move one step closer to your desire? If it doesn't, turn around and head the other way. If it does, charge forward and let nothing and no one stand in your way.
